#### 2008 full - start #### Tuesday December 9, 2008 I hope everyone is in Holiday spirit mode! Last week was awesome: On Tuesday 11 of us, later followed by Mary F. and her sister and friend went to the new EAST SIDE WEST and had a spectacular dinner! Chef Rob Lam has Terminator Chef Dino making the most wicked fried chicken! The bar team which was trained by Jacques B. is outstanding! Thank you Danny for the amazing drinks. Fianlly Kurt is holding down the fort! Definately check EAST SIDE WEST out soon! On Wednesday I got to fly downsouth and check out another cool new spot in San Diego: La Puerta. La Puerta is by far the most serious tequila bar in SD. Even though Agave in Old Town has a huge selection, I feel that the folks at La Puerta really know Tequila better and are more interested in serving great Tequila than having 3 million brands. Nice job guys. La Puerta is located in the Gaslamp district of San Diego. Then Enrico C. and myself were treated to a fabulous dinner in Malibu with nani and Mel. Than you guys so much!!!! On Thursday I shared some of Jalisco's best tequilas: El Tesoro, Partida, 4 Copas and Siete Leguas with the Tourist Board of Cabo San Lucas Mexico at the new Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills! Look for my blog on this event on the PARTIDA website! I concluded the evening with a spectacular steak from Mastro's and a Bolivar Belicosos Fino from 2000! Life is amazing and good. God bless everyone! Monday December 1, 2008 Our hearts go out to everyone in Mumbai. India is a beautiful and powerful country that must set an example for Asia. No one should tolerate such cowardly acts. I hope justice is served. I hope everyone in America that celebrated Thanksgiving had a great one. It is my favorite eating holiday and I must say I was a good boy! We feel very fortunate that Tommy's has been able to serve our guests for over 43 years! Even though Tommy's is not one of the oldest restaurants in San Francisco we have certainly contributed our fair share to not only the bartending culture but also to the fabric of this amazing city. One of the things that makes a neighborhood restuarant so special to me is seeing the same people from the owners, hosts, bussers, servers, the dishwashers! and of course most importantly our guests. I was ecstatic to see Miss Heather and Gibb from Aspen and last night Carrie, Eric and Stacey. Their visits conjured up so many great memories. These are just some of the things that make a small, mom and pop, neighborhood joint a great place to work at and make friends. Everyone have a great week! Thursday November 26,2008 HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!!! Though this holiday is only celebrated in the US, I would like to take this opportunity to give thanks for all of the amazing people that make up the Tommy's family: our guests, employees, my family and yours! May you all be in the presence of people you love and cherish. Tommy's is closed today. We wil reopen on Friday and resume our normal schedule until Christmas. I would also like to congratulate Don Raul Plascencia. He and his partners recently sold Destileria San Nicolas to Gruppo Campari. Though it is also a littlke sad to see another Tequila Distillery be sold , it is also a sign that Tequila becomes even more global. I know Gruppo Campari will help put Tequila in the reach of more consumers internationally. Congratulations to Cate C. and Aaron B. who graduated last night form our Tequila program. Also I wish to personally thank Don Carlos L., Peraza, Fernandito, Mayda, Don Abel, Don Eduardo and all who made our stay so amazing. Congratulations to Don Abel and his team for an amazing 15 years. You guys are the best on earth! It is a true priveledge to be your friends. Make sure you see the new James Bond movie and drink some Bollinger! See you on Friday! Monday November 10, 2008 Wow!!!!! Congratulations to President elect, Senator Barrack Obama. It is time for our country to take a new direction. I wish him the support and the strength of the American people to help restore our country’s prominence. Now back to reality. Congratulations to newly graduated Tequila Master Jacob Stillman and thanks to Jacob for bringing Shannon and introducing her to the Tommy’s Blue Agave Club. Remember Shannon, you now have to graduate!!! The most exclusive party in the Tequila business was held on Friday. We were extremely privileged to have been the only restaurateurs on earth to be invited. Juan Domingo Beckman and the Cuervo family held the 13th Reserva de La Familia party to introduce Marco Arce and his amazing artwork that covers the 2009 Reserva Box. Now wait a minute. Reserva was released in 1995 for the 200th anniversary of the Cuervo company. Back in 1995 Tommy’s made the largest independent purchase of Reserva de La Familia, never having seen the final package in the US. Why? It was a no brainer. I was fortunate enough to receive sample bottles and thoroughly enjoyed them and was blown away with the quality and taste. Over the years Reserva de La Familia has been a product that I have always looked forward to tasting and seeing. And though I have my favorite vintages, Reserva is delicious extra añejo and a supreme value. I hate to do this but I will tease you by not describing the box until next week!!! Suffice it to say that I will put up some cool pictures next week. I hope you have the patience to wait!! Here is another little scoop: Charbay Tequila. Of course 100% agave. Made form estate grown agave, in the Highlands of Jalisco by a 13th generation master distiller. Coming in March… I arrived from Jalisco very late last night. Email me for questions. AS always, the Tequila industry is the most vibrant , amazing and funnest spirit category. I hope if you are of legal drinking age, you are enjoying tequila responsibly!!! See you next week…
Thursday October 23, 2008 I love baseball!!!! Too bad our Giant's and A's did not go anywhere. I hope the Rays-Phillies series is a good one. Of course everyone is watching it at Tommy's! This is a special greeting to Kelly Boydell : Hello from Julio @ Tommy's!!! Rumor has it that Tommy's margaritas had something to do with Jack and Grant!!! Like I have always said, tequila will increase the population! So Kelly I am with David and we are having a some margaritas! Rest assured he is with Eric and Jim. I cannot believe it has been 8 years since I have seen you. You are due for a return visit and find Dave's Tequila Club card for him as it is still valid! Hope to see you soon, Julio Happy Belated Birthday to Sammy Hagar (Oct 13) and my mom (Oct 16). We were in Cabo for Sammy's 61st and he threw a great show!!! A packed to the rafters Cabo Wabo crowd consumed Cabo Wabo Repo like water in Cabo's gorgeous climate. I myself had my fair share of Cabo Repo with M. GardneSean and Sonya Sailor and Suzy Q! We had a beautiful 4 days . Also mey dear friend Dylan caught and released a beautiful marlin and I caught dinner, a nice sized Dorado ( mahi mahi to some of you). Hey Sammy, thank you for the wonderful hospitality! As you know, if there is anything we can ever do for you, just ask! Thanks also for introducing me to Chef Antonio. Do not ever change! Feliz Cumpleaños!!! As for dinner, Jo and Mary B. graciously invited us to their restaurant Panchos, an institution in Cabo. Their chef prepared Dorado 6 ways for the nine of us: sashimi, ceviche, blackened, breaded, grilled and fajitas. I know many of you already know, but there is nothing like eating fresh seafood. It does not get fresher than catching it, delivering it to the restaurant by 2 pm and then eating it by 8 pm. Also did I mention Pancho's has an amazing tequila selection and tasting program? They do. Definately a must on your next visit to Cabo! T his is a greeting to Tequila Master Raul Deju. He is our current c hampion road warrior, galavanting between Europe and Asia while raising a family in San Diego! You go brotha!!! Great also to hear again from Tequila Master Jonathan D. from Tokyo! Start planning your trip to our distillery opening!!!! See you guys next week, Julio Monday October 6, 2008 I hope some of you made it to see Mickey Fimbres have his best race ever! I apologize for not making it. I had to help rescue some beautiful tropical fish and fly to Guadalajara that evening. Tocayo again I apologize!. This is a special greeting that goes out to Ramon Castro from your wife, inviting you to Tommy's! Ramon, I hope if you make it down that you like it as your wife tells us you are a Tequila aficionado. Congratulations to Dr. Ed Feng, our latest Ninja Master. Ed is amazing and we even hope to have him give us some advice at the distillery next year! Talk later, julio Friday Night September 26, 2008 Hello Friends of Tommy's The Tommy's racing team will be making it's final home appearance Sunday 9/28 @ Sears Pt (Infineon) Raceway. The track is just 30 miles from SF right on the edge of Sonoma county. It's a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon sitting in the sun, drinking margaritas, and watching motorcycle racing. :) Grab a bottle of your favorite tequila, a jug of Tommy's Margarita Mix, an ice chest, and come on out. Kids and dogs are welcome. I will be personally participating in Race 4, around 11:30am, and race 10 around 3:30pm. Julio himself will be making an appearance with some silver shakers. We'll set up our own temporary bar right in my pit in the heart of the racing paddock. Of course I'll have to wait until my second race is done ;) If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. -Mickey

Do you like motorcycle racing? Tequila Master Tocayo will be racing this Sunday at Sear's point and would like to invite anyone who wants to come see him. I will be there with Lily passing out some adult beverages... Here is what Tocayo writes: Hello Friends of Tommy's The Tommy's racing team will be making it's final home appearance Sunday 9/28 @ Sears Pt (Infineon) Raceway. http://www.afmracing.org/index.php See you at Sear's Point! A HUGE congratulations to Neva Aubin who celebrated her 100th birthday yet another birthday bash on Saturday. Neva, a music Professor at Cal also had a small party at Tommy's where she put down 2 margaritas!!! Amazing! She is a true SUPERSTAR! Also make sure you check out the Chihuly exhibit at the De Young; this is the last week. Talk to you next Tuesday! 16 de Septiembre 2008 FELICES FIESTAS PATRIAS!!!!!!! Today is Mexican Independence Day!!!! Please remeber that Cinco de Mayo is NOT Mexican Independence day but rather the conmemoration of a historic battle that took place outside of Puebla. So today is the day! Please go out and drink some tequila responsibly ( if one is 21 or over!) After years of not updating our TEQUILA LIST, I think I finally learned how to do it!!!! All of thi swas prompted by the ownwer of Siete Leguas, Fernando Gonzalez who spoke to David G. and asked why his products were not on my list. I suddenly remebered that our list had not been updated in years! Our list is now 90% complete. I still need to add like Alquimilla, Tom Estes' OCHO, Don Pilar and a few others. Also one list that will not be on the website will be our vintage list. One fact that separates Tommy's from all other Tequila bars on earth is our vintage list. We have been stashing Tequila away for decades! Our Tequila Masters and PHD's will have access to this list. The CHICAS CAZADORES were as always amazing! My hat is off to Bacardi for making this happen. Tommy's like several other businesses wrote a letter to the state and to the feds asking for support of this group and we are so happy we did. They obviously promote Cazadores but they do much more for the entire industry. Great job Bacardi! Thank you CAZADORES. Have you tried TEQUILA DON PILAR? This is a relatively new HIGHLAND Añejo made for Don Pilar C. who now resides in Northern California but is originally from Jalisco. He has an amazing story of his American dream! We are planning another DON PILAR Night with him. Hopefully you can join us and learn about his amazing life story! Come by and ask for some DON PILAR. We first "launched" weeks before the "official" launch with Tommy's customers being the first in Northern california to sample Tom Estes' and Felipe camarena's new tequila. Ocho is made from single estates and vintage dated. It is highly allocated At retail to our knowledge only LIQUID EXPERIENCE on Haight Street has it. Blackwell's can special order it. I would also expect JUG SHOP, WINE IMPRESSIONS<, COIT LIQUORS and JOHN WALKER to be able to special order it. It definately should be in the collections of evry serious Tequila aficionado. Tommy's is very proud to be making the margaritas for the Mexican Consulate for their events yesterday and today. Have a great week!!! 19TH OF AUGUST 2008 Wow, after more than 1 year of not updating the site we are back. So what did you miss by not coming personally to Tommy's to find out? Here are some highlights. As usual thank you all for coming. We really appreciate your business and never realize thatwe are honored when you choose to spend your hard earned dollars at Tommy's. we also never lose site that while fancy places come and go, the true restaurateur never forgets his/her customres. Tommy's remains committed to bringing you value in a fun, informal and family environment. Class Magazine voted us one of the Top 50 bars on earth. Australian Bartender Magazine voted us the 14th best bar on earth. Mixology magazine voted the Tommy's margarita the 4th most influetial cocktail of the mdern era. Can your tequila bar say this? Please visit our competitors. OCHO TEQUILA Tommy's unveiled OCHO TEQUILA several weeks ago to serious tequila aficionados who wanted to taste Tom Estes' tequila before anyone else in California. Neeless to say it was a big success and is on the menu now. We will have a formal OCHO introduction on AUG 27th with Tom Estes in attendance. Come on by if you would like to learn more about OCHO. CHICAS CAZADORES TOMMY'S IS PROUD ONCE AGAIN TO HOST THE CHICAS CAZADORES. We will host them Sunday August 24th from 3 pm. Please get here early if you would like to take pictures, get autographs and just dream... Of course enjoy Cazadores Tequila all day and everyday! The Chicas Cazores are a professional folkloric dance company from Jalisco, Mexico. Hope to see you soon at Tommy's! #### 2008 full - end #### |
